I’ve had a lot of real estate agents ask me if they should buy an iPad…the answer is yes! But wait a month or two, the new one will be out in April! It’s going to be faster, lighter, all around better and feature a front facing camera for the ever important and industry future, video chat.

The iPad has been crucial for our recruiting, training, and as a showcase of our technical abilities. In other words, it still has the “WOW” factor for agents and potential home buyers and sellers alike. While it’s not a substitute for your everyday laptop, you shouldn’t ever lose a listing presentation with one of these in your arsenal! $500 well spent!

As for the new Verizon iPhone…

It’s not really new, it primarily the same as the AT&T, but with much better service (insert caveat here). My business partner Scott joined the masses and made the iPhone carrier switch, and I must say his quality of service has vastly improved! Where he previously dropped the same call 3-4 times during one conversation, he now has crystal clear conversations.

Now, the reasons you SHOULD NOT buy the Verizon iPhone:

  • You cannot talk and check your email or surf the web at the same time
  • Even though it is the iPhone 4, it is not 4G LTE (this is probably the biggest drawback IMO. LTE is Verizon’s new “really fast” network…think faster than your home internet, and their 3g is “really slow”. I’m a T-Mobile Android user, but I’ve performed speedtest on just about every network, and Verizon 3G is usually at the bottom.
  • The new iPhone is just around the corner! While the iPhone 4 is awesome, the new one will most likely be out this summer and is rumored to be 4G, and have an integrated payment system in it called NFC (Near Field Communication) which basically will let you use it as a credit card at most stores (in the future). I’m sure it will have some other fancy upgrades…maybe (fingers crossed) 1080P HD video recording :)

So in summary, be patient! I know if you’re a tech and gadget junkie like me it’s nearly impossible, but great things are around the corner and it’s hard to justify buying a nearly year old product when things are changing so quickly!
